Fordite or Detroit Agate Pendant with a Sterling Silver bail. Cut shaped and polished in our workshop. The colors are a swirly pattern of black, charcoal, red, white and blue. Fordite is layer upon layer of paint that built up on the tracks and skids as cars were being hand spray painted. The paint baked and hardened and became heavy. Eventually it had to be peeled off. After painting became automated there was little or no overspray. Now the bright colors and swirls of the hardened paint are being crafted into eye catching jewelry. Fascinating conversation piece.
