Fordite or Detroit Agate Pendant

Fordite or Detroit Agate pendant with a Sterling Silver bail. Handmade in our workshop and designed to be one of a kind. The swirling colors are red, white, blue and black. At one time automobiles were all spray painted by hand. Over time the overspray would build up layer upon layer on the tracks and skids where they did the painting. The paint was baked and hardened and heavy. The workers would have to peel it off. Some of the layers of paint would be saved because of the beauty and bright colors and swirls of the hardened paint. It is becoming more rare. It is now used for crafting unique jewelry. (Fordite piece in background not included). Height 1 1/2″ Width 1/2″ (W4)
