Kona Dolomite Slab from Michigan

Kona Dolomite Slab from the Kona Hills in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This was a large chunk that I cut in to slabs in my workshop. The colors are gray, tan, pink and red. The iron ore in the rock is what gives it the pretty coloring. Kona Dolomite is said to be over 2 billion years old. This stone can only be found in the Marquette County Quarry. Kona Dolomite can be used for making very beautiful cabochons. Width 3 7/8″. Height¬† 3 1/2″. Thickness 1/4″. Weight 7.5 oz.¬† (A) Photo was taken wet in natural sunlight.
