Polished Petrified Wood for Display

Polished Petrified Wood specimen for display. This was and end piece that was cut and polished in my workshop. The colors are golden brown and tan.  It appears to be part of a limb that was split at some point  before it was  fossilized. Petrified wood occurs  when the wood is buried deep in the ground and is deprived of oxygen. The lack of oxygen prevents the wood from decomposing. The  process of becoming fossilized takes place over millions of years.  This is a nice specimen that shows some good grain pattern.   Width 1 1/2″. Height 1 1/8″. Length  4″. Weight 8.1 oz.
