Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood polished end piece.. Cut and polished to a high sheen in my lapidary workshop. The colors are wine and red with some yellow streaks. Petrified or fossilized wood is formed over millions of years as a result of flooding. The wood is buried in the muck and due to lack of oxygen the wood is preserved. The minerals in the ground replace the wood. Arizona Rainbow Petrified wood is made up of almost entirely quartz. Very heavy solid specimen. Length 4 1/2″. Width 3 1/4″. Height 1 3/4″.
