Arizona Petrified wood limb cast. Cut and polished to a mirror finish in my lapidary workshop. Arizona Rainbow wood is made up of almost solid quartz. These rainbow colors are made from the impurities in the quartz. The colors are red, wine and a little yellow. Petrified or fossilized wood was formed millions of years ago from being buried in muck where it could no longer get oxygen. The lack of oxygen would then preserve the wood. Over the millions of years the minerals in the ground would then replace the wood. Width 3 1/2″ Height 2″. Length 2″. Weight 14.6 oz.
